Culture Arena - international MC Challenge

International MC Challenge

End of the Weak, the multicultural merging of worldwide Hip Hop enthusiasts has its roots in New York like its mother “Hip Hop”. Already since the year 2000 a weekly battle was organized in order to provide a platform for the MCs and to further the creative exchange.
The principle of "Battle" is an essential part of the Hip Hop culture which has made to achieve a solid base in the society from the early 70s until today. Battle is not to be understood as man is competing against man as an aggressor but to transform negative energy into positive energy in order to grow together. The basic idea of hip hop consists in showing his skills and competing with each other in the various disciplines DJing, Break dancing, Graffiti and Rap whereas the creative and conjointly acting and thinking is the main focus.

You try to form an international alliance against racism, sexism, violence and drugs. So you get around to creating a worldwide unique event concept which is standing out from the usual "Battles" where normally the one with the most audience tends to win.  This concept looks like this: Depending on the number of participants, up to 6 persons will be determined in a preliminary round to compete in the following disciplines in the challenge. (During the World Championships the challenge participants will be increased.)

EOW is now the longest weekly MC battle in New York and enjoys growing popularity and appreciation in the scene. With the thought of minimizing aggression and furthering the sense of community of MCs it became a global movement. Countries such as Great Britain, Spain, France, Portugal, Czech Republic, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, Uganda and Germany belong to the EOW movement. In recent years the thing "End of the Weak" has grown so much that it was possible to arrange the first World championship.

The last World Cup was held in 2009 in London where Germany has participated in and was able to eke out the second place. The international exchange is unique because artists from around the world are uniting and learning from each other to assure one’s point of view in the social chaos. It has an extremely high value because it can be worked integrative and inspiring with all participants and foreign languages are enhanced. Therefore, you are able to access a large number of artists for letting emerge a living community outside the commercial sector where it is about the love to music and the maintenance of the Hip-Hop culture for future generations. Germany participated on it already since 2006. Starting in Berlin, EOW Germany arranged weekly and monthly events throughout the country. This year the time has come and the World championship will take place in July for the first time in Berlin and we are happy to welcome the whole world.
